In a scene that the mind cannot be absorbed, or the conscience is accepted; A few days ago, the Israeli occupation forces targeted the tent of journalists near the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, which led to the burning of the young Palestinian journalist Ahmed Mansour.
Ahmed was martyred, in full view and hearing of the free world, as two of his colleagues rose, and nine other journalists were wounded, Ahmed and his colleagues had only the word and the image, they were trying to communicate the voice of those who had no voice to the world, but the occupation decided to silence them with fire.
This crime was only a new episode in a long series of systematic targeting of the press in Gaza, targeting whose goals are not mistaken; Blinding the truth, hiding war crimes, and depriving the world from seeing with his eyes the details of the war of extermination that waged the defenseless Palestinian people since October 2023. What frightens the occupation to this extent from a journalist carrying a microphone or a camera? The answer is clear.
The “truth”, the word that can awaken the global human conscience, and can move peoples and institutions, has become a target against the fire.
The targeting did not stop at the media; Rather, it extended to hospitals and medical centers, what happened in the Baptist Hospital a few days ago that can only be described as a deliberate crime, direct bombardment, systematic destruction and targeting of patients, doctors, and paramedics, only because they are trying to save what can be saved from lives under the rubble.
What has been happening in Gaza for more than a year and a half represents the war of extermination of full pillars, whose goals are children in the nurseries of hospitals, pregnant mothers, journalists in their tents, and everyone who carries a degree of humanity, and tries to make a difference. Where is the global conscience? Where are the international institutions that have always sang freedom of expression and protecting civilians? The continuation of silence in front of these crimes is an unannounced partnership, and a shameful collusion with the killing machine.
What is happening in Gaza today is a harsh test of humanity. The world is required, now and not tomorrow, with the urgent action in order to stop this barbaric war, and to provide real protection for civilians, journalists, medical crews, and all those who have been in hope in Gaza.
Humanitarian aid must be introduced immediately, especially medicines, foods, and fuels that people need to survive, so more than two million people can leave the fate of hunger, cold and disease, while the world watches them through its screens, without moving a finger.
The cry of Gaza today is a distress call to the global conscience; Stop the war of extermination, protect journalists, open the doors of life for civilians, nothing in this world deserves to be killed by this brutality.
