The British Ministry of the Interior has announced new legal amendments that grant the Immigration Advisor (OICC) extensive powers to pursue individuals and institutions that provide immigration consultations without a legal license, in a move aimed at reducing exploitation and enhancing the integrity of the immigration system.
The penalties include the imposition of financial fines of up to 15 thousand pounds, with the possibility of suspending the activity of the violators and obliging them to cooperate in the investigations related to their previous practices.

This emphasis comes within the framework of the British government’s efforts to stop what is known locally as the presentation, and they are individuals from some communities such as Arabic and Hindi who take advantage of their mastery of the English language to submit asylum applications and deal with official bodies on behalf of immigrants who are not proficient in language, often in exchange for money, and without having legal qualifications or an official license.
The Minister of Border Security, Angela Eagl, confirmed that unlicensed advisers will face strict penalties, noting that an increasing number of asylum seekers have been a victim of false or misleading legal advice, but the minister did not address the chronic deficiency in free legal advice services, which civil society organizations consider a fundamental loophole that increases the fragility of the conditions of migrants.
According to the report, the new amendments also block legal gaps that allowed some practitioners to work under the supervision of other licenses without effective control, which enables the authority to take direct measures against them.
The authority also published an illustrative guide that determines what can be provided without a license, such as providing general information on immigration laws, or helping migrants fill in official models, provided that clear instructions are followed, without providing personal legal opinion or legal representation before the Ministry of Interior.
This step comes amid the escalation of the political rhetoric of immigration in Britain, which increases the complexity of the conditions of immigrants and asylum seekers, and puts them in the face of increasing legal and living challenges in light of the weak institutional support.
