Dr. Maya Morsi received the Minister of TawaaMN Social, a report from the Central Administration for Persons with Disabilities headed by Professor Khalil Mohamed, where the Ministry of Social Solidarity confirms its firm commitment to support and empowerment of people with hearing disabilities, and its keenness to integrate them in society, not only as individuals in need of support, but as active partners and owners of inspiring capabilities, in the context of celebrating the Arab Day of the Deaf, which comes in the last week of April of each year.
The World Health Organization estimates that more than 1.5 billion people around the world suffer from a degree of hearing loss, but in the Arab world, the numbers of deaf and hearing and hearing are estimated at more than 10 million people, who live daily challenges in communication, education and social life.
The auditory disability in Egypt represents approximately 4.5 % of the total persons with disabilities, according to the data of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
And based on the keenness of the Ministry of Social Solidarity to care and rehabilitate persons with disabilities and support coordination with the various state institutions and work not to marginalize them and overcome the obstacles that impede them from engaging and integrating into society on an equal footing with others, with their various disability, especially the hearing disabilities “deaf”, the Ministry has sought to enhance societal awareness to integrate persons with disabilities and create a public and social and societal society with issues with disabilities In general, people with hearing disabilities in particular, improve the directions of accepting their integration into society, investing in humans and changing negative societal behaviors towards them.
A specialized committee was also formed to develop the unified indicative dictionary, with the aim of unifying the language of signal and its use at the level of the Republic, and the approval and license of the sign language translator, and a road map has been developed to issue a unified indicative dictionary for the Arab Republic of Egypt that is used as a reference at the level of Egypt and the necessity of establishing an electronic platform for the official sign language in Egypt was completed.
The electronic employment platform for “rehabilitation” was launched in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Labor, with the aim of providing various support for persons with disabilities in providing job opportunities that suit the disability and the academic qualification if it is found, to integrate them into the labor market, and implement extensive training programs to teach the principles of sign language for workers at the Ministry’s General Court and dealt directly with persons with hearing disabilities from the deaf, by 6 programs targeting 145 employees and underway Working on the number of programs formed for workers in the directorates of social solidarity at the level of 27 governorates.
The Ministry also provides guidance and guidance services to the families of people with hearing disabilities to enhance their capabilities to deal with their children and help them develop their skills and enhance their ability to live independently.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched the digital “Wasel” application that enables persons with hearing disabilities and the difficulties of communication to access services, whether governmental or private.
