The data of the foreign trade bulletin, issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, revealed the value of Egypt’s imports of natural gas by 145.5% during January 2025.
Egypt’s imports of natural gas rises by 145.5% during January 2025
According to the data, the value of the Egyptian imports increased by 10.1%, reaching 7.78 billion dollars during the month of January 2025, compared to 7.07 billion dollars for the same month in the previous year, due to the increase in the value of imports of some commodities, the most important of which are: natural gas by 145.5%, wheat by 22.5%, organic chemicals of organic and non -organic substances by 13.3%, and drains of their initial forms by 3.1%.
Foreign trade data showed that Egypt imported quantities of natural gas at a value of $ 4.9 billion during the past year 2024, compared to $ 2.412 billion in a growth of 103.2% on the basis according to the statistical data data.
Last year, 2024 witnessed the end of the power outages in Egypt, after providing dollar liquidity necessary to import natural gas to produce electricity, after the Egyptian economy improved.
Natural gas imports
Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, said in a press conference on January 29, that the excavation of the back field arrived in Egypt, and began the works to increase the production capacity in the field, and that the company confirmed that Egypt within two years will export gas and have a surplus again.
The new fiscal year project included 2025-2026, which was approved by the Council of Ministers headed by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, and referred to the House of Representatives, allocating 75 billion pounds to support petroleum products to the new fiscal year budget project 2025/2026, and 3.5 billion pounds were allocated to support the delivery of natural gas to homes, within the framework of the government’s efforts to increase the number of beneficiaries of the service.
