Bahrain woke up last Tuesday morning to a thick wave of dust that covered the atmosphere, and drew the country with a suffocating gray color, in the morning in which the vision was almost non -existent, and the air loaded with dust seeds that infiltrated the homes, cars, and breasts. Something was not. Despite the appeals of the parents to disable schools and transfer the study from a distance, but no interaction was issued and no precautionary action was taken to convert the study into a “distance”, although Bahrain has a leading experience in this field, the Kingdom has proven, during the Korona pandemic, its superior ability to activate e -learning, and provided advanced digital platforms that proved its effectiveness in more complicated circumstances than a day So, why is this ready -made infrastructure not used in such emergency conditions?! The truth is that the issue is not related to technology, nor the ability, everything is available, but what is lacking is the speed of response and risk estimation. Dust not only exhausts the vision, but it weighs the breasts of those who suffer from asthma, allergies and respiratory diseases, our students are not numbers in the attendance schedule, but also souls that deserve protection, and it is sufficient for one of them to be subjected to a severe respiratory attack; Because of the dust, everyone knows the meaning of delay in decision -making. It is irony that Bahrain is one of the leading countries in making human decisions to protect the most vulnerable groups, the most prominent of which is the law to stop work in open places during the afternoon hours in July and August, in order to preserve the health and safety of workers from the sun’s heat. It is a decision that thanks and respects, because it stems from the principle of prevention and concern for man first. Why does the same logic not apply to students in the days of extreme dust? Is it not obligatory in every exceptional circumstance? We do not demand indiscriminate disruption, but rather a simple call that puts the health of our children in the palm, and the importance of adapting to the circumstances on the other hand. It is okay for education to continue, but from a distance, one or two, until the sky is clear and the air is described.
