Today, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the Public Security Forces in Damascus arrested Tayseer Othman, nicknamed “Abu Muhammad Tayseer”, who was the official of the Department of Studies Department in the Irrigation Company of the 215 branch of the Military Intelligence Service of the deposed Syrian regime. Othman is considered one of the main involved in the arrest and liquidation of thousands of Syrians during the rule of the previous regime.
According to local sources and publications on the X platform, the arrest operation was carried out in the Al -Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus, where Othman is accused of committing robbing, stolen and blackmail crimes against civilians, as well as his role in the killings and torture inside the 215 branch, known as the “branch of death” due to the brutal violations that he witnessed.
Reports indicate that Othman is involved in falsifying documents and liquidating detainees, which sparked widespread anger among the people.
Othman was referred to the Public Prosecution to complete the investigations, amid celebrations in the Al -Mazzeh neighborhood after his arrest, as an expression of the people’s satisfaction with the arrest of one of the symbols of criminality in the previous regime.
It is noteworthy that the “215 Branch”, located in the Kafr Sousa area in Damascus, was one of the most notorious detention centers, as human rights reports documented the killing of many detainees under torture, as well as inhumane detention conditions.
