Karim Saeed, the ruler of the new Bank of Lebanon, announced, in press statements today, Friday, that the bank will be independent and protected from the political influence, confirming the work to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
The governor of the new bank also confirmed that the involved will be tried, stressing that the criminal audit will be completed on the depositors ’money.
The ruler indicated that he must work to return all deposits gradually by banks, and save the young depositors first.

He also confirmed the withdrawal of bank licenses that refuse to integrate into the financial system.
Karim Saeed pointed out that the central bank will be independent in making its decisions and protected from the political impact to ensure avoiding interests, stressing that all private funds, including deposits, are protected by Lebanese law, noting the need to work to gradually restore all deposits by banks.
He explained that the Central Bank and the Lebanese state bear their responsibility in this regard, while giving priority to rescue the small depositors.
