China has announced new regulations to register marriage, which will enter into force on the tenth of next May, as these regulations aim to improve family support services, expand access to registration services at the country level, and simplify administrative procedures.

Under the decree signed by the President of the State Council, Lee Qiang, the modified regulations include six chapters and 28 articles, where important changes were made to improve the marriage registration process and facilitate them.

Among the most prominent of these amendments is the cancellation of the requirements for registration for marriage in the place of residence of individuals or their official residence, Hoko, a condition that was previously used to prevent problems such as polygamy.

The new regulations allow couples to register their marriages in any governorate in the country thanks to the establishment of a national database of marriage information. The Ministry of Civil Affairs has been assigned to coordinate this rule and provide a safe and effective system to exchange data with the relevant authorities.

The regulations also include providing advisory support services for marriage and family, as local authorities have been invited to enhance these services and encourage health and sustainable family relations, and consultations will also be provided before marriage and solutions to mediation in conflict situations in order to reduce divorce rates.

In addition, the regulations focus on improving the quality of marriage registration services by unifying the standards and improving the procedures for verifying documents and identity via the Internet, and this update aims to facilitate the registration process and make them smoother and effective for citizens.
