The United Kingdom announced today, Thursday, its support for rebuilding the financial system in Syria by lifting sanctions, with the aim of encouraging investments in vital sectors such as financial services and energy production.

Britain also canceled decisions to freeze assets related to the Syrian Defense and Interior Ministry and a number of intelligence services, which were imposed during the era of the former president.

This decision comes within the framework of restoring the West to evaluate its policies towards Syria. “The stability of Syria serves British national interests, and the Syrian people deserve the opportunity to rebuild their country and economy.”

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed this step, describing it as “constructive” to enhance the normalization of international relations and meet the urgent needs of the Syrian people. British documents revealed that the decision to raise the freezing of assets included 12 Syrian entities, including the Ministry of Interior, Defense and the General Intelligence Administration, after a similar lifting last March of the assets of the Central Bank of Syria and 23 other entities.
