The Chinese Ministry of Commerce confirmed today, Thursday, that American pressures and threats will not contribute to resolving the trade dispute between Beijing and Washington, calling for a return to the dialogue table based on mutual respect.
During a press conference reported by the Chinese News Agency (Xinhua), the ministry spokeswoman, Yong Ciany, explained that China is open to talks, provided that it is held on the basis of equality and respect, warning that any escalation of a trade war will face a firm response from China to the end. She added: “We hope that the two parties will meet in the middle of the road to resolve differences through dialogue and consultation, guiding the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and profitable cooperation for all.”
The spokeswoman confirmed her country’s readiness to take strong measures to protect her legitimate rights and interests. In light of the domestic and international opposition to the unilateral US tariffs, and urged the United States to immediately cancel these fees and correct its practices to create a suitable climate for negotiations.
