The Kingdom of Bahrain and the countries of the world celebrate on the seventh of April of each year World Health Day, and the celebration of World Health Day is preparing the opportunity to shed light on what Bahrain provides in the field of mother and child health, as the Kingdom of Bahrain has regional and international praise in the level of health coverage provided to the mother during pregnancy and postpartum and the services of the newborn and child care, where the Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved high health levels in the field of care and childhood care.

World Health Day launches this year a full year’s campaign on maternal and newborn health. The campaign, entitled “A healthy beginning for a promising future”, will urge governments and health community to intensify efforts to end the deaths of mothers and births that can be prevented, and to give priority to women’s health and their long -term well -being.

According to the World Health Organization, the latest published estimates indicate that about 300,000 women lose their life due to pregnancy or birth every year, while more than two million children are killed in the first month of their lives, and about two million dead children are born.

This is nearly one death that can be arrested every 7 seconds. The organization indicated that women and families everywhere need high -quality care that support them physically and emotionally, before and after birth, in addition to developing health systems to manage many health problems that affect the health of the mother and the newborn, which are not limited to complications related to birth directly, but also include mental health, non -communicable diseases and family planning.

The Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain provides many maternity and childhood care services to citizens and residents, most notably the reproductive health, which is concerned with the ability of individuals to have children and freedom to choose the timing of doing so, and also includes that men and women are aware of the means of organizing a safe, effective and acceptable family and obtaining a satisfactory and safer sexual life. The reproductive health also includes obtaining a safe period and birth to ensure the health of the mother and child.

The Ministry of Health urges attention to reproductive health for individuals through many health services provided in the Department of Motherhood and Childhood Care Services in health centers.

Health services are provided by family doctors, community service nurses and legal midwives who have been trained and qualified to provide service to all citizens and residents in the Kingdom. The services include:

– Pregnant care services: They mean mothers in pregnancy, and all cases that can affect the health of the mother and the fetus are examined and processed, so the mothers help in transgressing the stage of pregnancy and childbirth with positive experience by: Ensuring that they take the required vaccinations, make sure that folic acid and iron are taken during pregnancy, the work of clinical and laboratory tests to ensure the health of the mother and the fetus and convert the pregnant woman who has signals A warning to diseases that affect the mother and the fetus to secondary care to follow up the condition, make an ultrasound to check on the health of the fetus, the location of the placenta and the amount of amniotic fluid.

– Periodic examination services for the child: It aims to early detection of diseases and prevent them by: giving the necessary vaccinations for all children according to the mandatory vaccination schedule of the Kingdom of Bahrain, a comprehensive periodic examination of the child to follow up on physical growth and cognitive cognitive development of linguistic and social and early detection of diseases and intervention to treat them, educating mothers about the child’s feeding, ways to care for him and maintain his safety, transform normal conditions For secondary care for follow -up and treatment.

Family Planning Services: It is concerned with providing advice service to women about the types of family planning methods available and appropriate for each category.

– Pre -marriage examination services: It aims to reduce the prevalence of common genetic blood diseases in future generations in the Kingdom, detect and treat infectious diseases and provide the necessary advice. Vaccines and treatment are also provided for both parties and conversion to secondary care if needed. The marriage advice service is also provided to those who are about to marry through the social researcher in the health center.

– Postpartum examination services and abortion: It is provided in the post -birth period for six weeks, and contains the following services: Ensure that the mother returns to her previous health status, encouraging the follow -up of breastfeeding, identifying the means of family planning that suits the patient, discussing the mother in matters that concern her about her health and the health of the child, addressing the remaining health problems after pregnancy, early detection of the symptoms of postpartum depression.

Periodic examination services for women: It aims to early detection of breast and cervical cancer in women and work to reduce the burden of disease on society and health through: increasing community awareness of breast and cervical cancer diseases, detection of cervical cancer from the age of 30 to 65 years by taking a tin of the cervix. Detection of breast cancer from 25 to 39 years by clinical examination and from 40 years and over by examining clinical breast and mammogram.

This, and the “Bahrain Oncology Center” has achieved a leading medical achievement worldwide, as it succeeded in completing the treatment of a patient with sickle cell anemia using the “Exagamglogene AutotEMCel” treatment, which relies on Krisper’s genetic adjustment technique in marrow transplantation. This patient is the first person outside the United States to be successfully announced treatment, which reflects the global leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of precise medicine and innovative health solutions.

This achievement represents the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to integrate global medical innovations in its national health strategy, and to enhance partnerships between institutions, to provide a comprehensive access to treatments for changing the lives of all citizens, and this achievement is a qualitative shift in the field of delicate medicine in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region, and comes after Bahrain on December 2, 2023, the position of the second country globally, and the first in the Middle East, which adopts the use of “Casagev” to treat the sicklery anemia SCD and beta -based beta -transmission, after conducting a comprehensive and accurate evaluation of safety and quality standards and the effectiveness of treatment. This treatment provides new hope for genetic blood diseases, and promotes efforts to develop the growing role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of health innovation.
