A fake broadcaster in a real voice

Australian media reports revealed that the famous CADA radio in Sydney used an artificial intelligence broadcaster to present a four -hour daily program without revealing to the listeners the truth of his identity. The program known as “Workdays with Thy” broadcasts a mixture of hip -hop, pop and R&b music, and it seemed to be presented by a human anchor called “Thy”.

Behind the scenes: a sound taken from a real employee

Arn Media, which owns the radio, confirmed that the anchor “Thy” is in fact a voice generated using the ElevenLabs tool, and it was simulated based on the sound and features of an employee in the financial department within the company.

No signals that he is an artificial broadcaster

It is controversial that the radio site nor the program itself indicated that “Thy” is not a real person. And the program described only: “Coordinated choices from our music experts … Listen first with Thy and be the first to discover the new.”

Criticism for the lack of transparency

Theresa Lim, Vice President of the Australian Voice Association, criticized the force of the absence of transparency by the radio, stressing that the listeners “deserve frankness and not to be deceived by a fake voice.”

A global trend expands

CADA is not the only one, radio stations in Poland and the United States have witnessed similar experiences, some of which caused real journalists and replacing them with two automatic broadcasters, which sparked great controversy over the future of the profession and media ethics.
