A terrible fire broke out in one of the residential buildings in the Riffa area at two o’clock after midnight, which resulted in the death of a Bahraini woman and her son with special needs, in addition to the damage of several apartments.
According to the preliminary information, which he listed, the eyewitnesses took that the fire began on the balcony of an apartment located on one of the lower floors, before the flames extended quickly to the inside of the apartment and from there to other parts of the building.
He emphasized that the deceased young man, who is about 20 years old, tried to take shelter inside a room in the apartment, but he was unable to survive.
While his parents tried to escape across the balcony, the father was able to jump, while the mother fell and a critical injury was injured, and she later died.
Several apartments were damaged in the building as a result of smoke and fire, while civil defense teams managed to control the fire and prevent its extension to the neighboring buildings.
The security authorities also began an investigation to determine the exact causes of the fire.
The incident left a state of sadness among the people, amid calls to intensify safety procedures in residential buildings.
