Al -Hawaj: Bahrain is not only a consumer of technology … but a growing platform for its production and leadership

Professor Abdullah Al -Hawaj, the founding President of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National University, stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain today is not merely a consumer of technology, but has become a growing international platform for the production of knowledge and leadership of digital transformation in the region, noting the hosting of Bahrain for the second edition of the World Conference on Innovation in IT and Knowledge Discovery (Itikd 2025), organized by the College of Information Technology at the National University, and in partnership with the World Assembly For the social effects of technology (SSIT), affiliated with the Institute of Electricity and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), with the participation of more than 50 countries, and the presence of the Secretary -General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Diana Abdel Karim Al -Jahrami, stressing that such conferences confirm the advanced position of the Kingdom in this vital field.

The opening session of the conference will be held this morning, Monday, in the Hall of the Gulf Hotel, while stressing that “what we are witnessing today is a global demand for the ITIKD conference is an international certificate that Bahrain has the ingredients and competencies, which makes it a dynamic center for the intersection of minds and technologies.

Al -Hawaj explained that the National University, through this conference, confirms its commitment to its academic and societal mission in serving the sustainable development goals, supporting digital transformation, and strengthening the Bahrain site in the global map as a center for innovation and knowledge development. He pointed out that the conference is not limited to the presentation of theoretical research, but rather an applied forum to display the latest technical innovations in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital health, huge data, and knowledge engineering, as well as discussing the social and moral dimensions of technological transformation.

The conference displays, over three days, about 200 scientific papers that were chosen out of 400 posts, after accurate scientific arbitration by a group of international experts, which reflects the high academic level of the conference, and enhances its role as an international platform for exchanging knowledge and building partnerships between universities, research centers and industrial institutions around the world.

Al -Hawaj concluded his statement by saying: “When the minds meet from fifty countries on the land of Bahrain, this is not just a conference, but an event that establishes a new future, which Bahrain presents with its competencies, initiatives, and future vision.”
