Representative Abdel Nabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, affirmed the constant commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to face the challenges of climate change, and the continuous work to develop legislation and environmental policies, in a way that keeps pace with international best practices, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain is working to implement many ambitious initiatives in order to reach the zero neutrality of carbon emissions by the year 2060 AD, in addition to continuing to afforestation projects and increasing spaces Green.
This came as the participation of the delegation of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain, representing the Excellency Representative Abdel Nabi Salman and His Excellency Lawyer Dalal Jassim Al -Zayed, member of the Shura Council, in an interactive workshop on “strengthening parliamentary communication and parliamentary advocacy for climate work, which was held on the sidelines of the 150th General Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union.
Representative Abdul Nabi Salman explained that the Kingdom of Bahrain has joined more than 40 related international and regional agreements and treaties, while continuing to develop its legislative policies and measures in line with global efforts to prevent and address environmental problems.
He pointed out that the legislative authority in Bahrain continues to support national initiatives in this field, by issuing qualitative legislation, most notably Law No. (7) of 2022 on the environment, which represents a qualitative shift in environmental legislative work.
During his intervention, Representative Abdel Nabi Salman asked about the extent of the commitment and credibility of some countries that provide reports on their achievements on the issue of climate change, especially in light of the lack of real resources to take care of the environment and climate work in developing countries.
