The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Arab Gulf University, in cooperation with the Clinical Research Center and the World Health Organization Center for the Development of Health Vocational Education at the Arab Gulf University, organized a workshop entitled: “Conscience and Crush: The Ethical Boundary in Research”.
The workshop, Director of the Clinical Research Center, was presented by Prof. Dr. Khaled Grish, in the presence of a number of students and faculty members, as well as a number of those interested in the ethics of scientific research.
The workshop dealt with several important axes, as the concept of moral boundaries in scientific research was highlighted, and the challenges associated with their definition in light of the accelerated scientific progress.
Dr. Quraysh also discussed the importance of achieving a balance between legitimate scientific curiosity and the moral responsibility that the researcher should have, stressing that commitment to moral principles does not contradict innovation but reinforces it.
The workshop included a presentation and analysis of realistic cases in which the researchers faced moral dilemmas, which allowed the participants an opportunity to understand the deeper challenges that they may face in their research career.
The best practices that guarantee integrity and transparency in the research were also reviewed, through an integrated system that starts from the stage of the study design and even publish the results.
The workshop emphasized the decisive role that research ethics play in influencing society, by ensuring that research outputs are of general benefit and do not cause harm to the targeted groups.
The workshop witnessed a great interaction from the participants who expressed their appreciation of the importance of this type of events that enhance professional awareness and support the culture of responsible research in the academic environment.
