The Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Al -Muslim referred to the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives a proposal for a desire for the government in coordination with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to develop a unified strategy to achieve leadership in artificial intelligence.

The explanatory note of the proposal stated: The Gulf states are striving to determine their location as a leading force in the field of artificial intelligence, relying on their promising investments in innovation, and the employment of technology in vital sectors such as health, energy and smart electronic services.

This trend enhances its economic growth in unprecedented ways.

To achieve this ambitious vision, it is necessary to develop a comprehensive strategy that includes the development of education to build specialized local competencies, and to establish flexible systems that encourage creativity taking into account the moral dimensions.

The effective partnerships between the government and the private sector are an essential element in this process, cooperation between the Gulf states, also a decisive factor, where it is possible to exchange experiences and set unified plans to enhance the region’s competitiveness in front of global technology giants.

Although there are challenges such as historical dependence on the import of technologies and the clear gap in local technical talents, available opportunities remain greater than these advanced infrastructure challenges, great financing, and political will is a solid basis for achieving technological independence of the Gulf states.

The explanatory note of the proposal submitted by the deputies Khaled Bouak, Ahmed Al -Salloum and Hisham Al -Awadi indicated that the Gulf Cooperation Council stands today, at a crossroads, either to devote its efforts to building a sustainable technical system, or to remain in the circle of dependency on other countries.

The first option is not just a possibility, but rather the only way towards a prosperous knowledge economy, as investments turn into tangible achievements, to show the world that the region is not just a consumer of technology, but also innovative and maker.
