The Ministry of Works confirmed that setting a light signal for entry and exit at the intersection of Umm Al -Na`san Street with Al -Hijiyat Street will negatively affect traffic safety, as it is located on the street many ports for residential real estate, and thus confirmed its refusal to implement this municipal proposal.
In its response to the proposal of the southern municipal council regarding the work of an intersection with the development of a light signal for entry and exit at the intersection of Umm Al -Naasan Street with Al -Hijiyat Street, the Ministry has been studied by the request by specialists in terms of traffic and planning, and the study was not recommended to create a light signal.
The ministry attributed this to the intersection concerned after only 220 meters from the intersection of Umm Al -Naasan Street and Al -Binyah Al -Mudar Street with a light signal, and that the creation of a light signal to this intersection will negatively affect the flow of traffic due to the lack of a sufficient distance between the two intersections mentioned.
The ministry stated, in its response, that Umm Al -Na`san Street is one of the main streets carrying the traffic movement, and that the speed specified on this street is 8 km/hour, and that the main and branch intersections are being established at safe distances based on the speed of the street and according to the engineering standards relied upon in the ministry.
The ministry said that it is possible to reach this area through the internal roads distributed to the traffic movement, which is linked to Umm Al -Naasan Street, Al -Mahzoura Street and the National Charter Street.
