A 7 -magnitude earthquake struck the Richter scale, off the coast of the southern island in New Zealand, according to the American Geological Survey.

The US Geological Survey said that a 7 -magnitude earthquake off the coast of Riverton in New Zealand on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The US Geological Survey statement added that the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, which was estimated at 6.21 miles.
