Minister of Housing: Our projects were not affected by prices.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Communications for Maritime Ports Affairs, Badr Al -Mahmoud, stated that the materials imported for construction within two months of this year 2025 amounted to 850 thousand tons of all building materials, with an increase of 36% compared to the same period last year, which is an indication of the presence of building materials in the Kingdom, indicating that there are about 100 naval pieces in marine ports affairs, accommodating 28 thousand tons per ship, where there are 23 wives in the Kingdom The ports are equipped to receive building materials distributed in the port of Salman and the industrial limit, with a total length of 3700 meters, which is sufficient for the presence of the sidewalks. He made it clear that the Ministry of Communications and Communications has coordinated with parties related to the provision of a number of shipwalks to address the high prices of building materials through quick solutions, and a family company was allowed to import 100 thousand tons of building materials, and in the near future the Bahrain Iron Company will be allowed to use building materials handling, Consequently, the benefits are on the basic inventory of building materials. Regarding the alternative plans, Al -Mahmoud said that the ministry made official visits and coordinated with the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide a quarry near the eastern coast to bring and provide building materials, pointing to the existence of bilateral cooperation through the establishment of a Bahraini Saudi partnership for building materials to provide it in Bahrain, adding that the Kingdom has an attractive environment to investment, where a government team has been formed whose mission is to work on locating appropriate locations for the sidewalks through partnership with the private sector. Their Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna Al -Rumaihi, said: “Any increases in building materials that do not affect citizens in our housing projects, and all our housing projects have ended in the specified period and according to the specified budget, and at any stage of building and construction there are agreed items, fixed deductions for citizens, despite all the challenges that were presented in your discussions.” For his part, the Minister of Industry and Trade Abdullah emphasized Abdullah Abdullah Fakhro, that the government has taken alternative steps to enhance the availability of building materials and the stability of their prices, indicating that cooperation has been made with the concerned authorities to use private ports for some private sector institutions, including a family company, as a temporary solution to import building materials, noting that this procedure has already begun to receive large quantities, as more than 100 thousand tons of building materials were imported during the past two weeks, which reflected positively on the prices that began to decrease Gradually, I pointed out that the Saudi Bahraini Investment Forum, which was recently held in Dhahran, witnessed the Bahraini -Saudi Business Council agreement to form a committee to study a feasibility to establish a joint Bahraini Saudi company specialized in building materials, in a way that contributes to enhancing economic security in this vital sector. On his part, Representative Hassan Ibrahim said: There are many development projects that require the availability of building materials to continue this march and develop a plan to secure materials at acceptable prices in the ten years The next, and it is known that there are 3 types of building materials and the lack of any kind that causes a shortage of them all because they complete each other, and there are 4 to 5 companies in Bahrain who have “barbecues”, and the crisis of building materials occurred occurred when these companies rented “Al -Barajat” abroad; Given the high privileges that are paid in advance and in advance. He continued that: the crisis for years and the first victim is the government, given that the ministries ’projects depend on private sector companies”, as it causes the price of tenders to rise, given that the lack of building materials doubles from the value of the projects, and if we look at the United Arab Emirates, we find that there are 35 battalions », and Bahrain needs from 9 to 11 million tons of imported materials. I have arrived, the market needs will not be covered for more than a month, so the problem is still present and needs radical solutions, and the shortage in Bahrain for building materials is equal to 60%, and for neighboring countries it has become huge projects and cannot export it abroad, which requires a review of the solution to the problem radically, and it is necessary to work to protect citizens who benefit from alternative housing services «land and loan» as well And finding appropriate solutions so that the prices are within their reach as they are with limited income. The government has future plans to deal with this situation, and we want to know its plans, because the repercussions of the current situation will be disastrous in the future. Representative Hisham Al -Asheiri said: The government has plans to meet the needs of the local market from construction, and we noticed two items that have been repeated in construction contracts from 2008 until today, and the contractor imposes on the Bahraini citizen to increase the price in the event of increased prices, and if the contractor is late; Because of the lack of building materials, the penalty clause does not pay. Representative Mamdouh Al -Saleh called on the government to provide the alternative immediately, or allow the private sector to import from any party, while Representative Jalal Kazem stressed the need not to be satisfied with importing and storing building materials, because the capacity for storage is limited, and relying on import makes you completely linked to the source, stressing that the presence of a solid base in manufacturing would provide Self -sufficiency in the construction sector; Which provides the state with large sums that it incur due to import. He pointed to the role of the Mamlakat Holding Company as an investment arm for the state, which is entrusted with the establishment of companies that provide resources and materials in the vital sectors such as food security and construction.
