The Gaza Municipality announced today, Sunday, that the threat of the occupation to stop the Makrot water line, which nourishes the city with about 70% of its daily needs, is portranging a crisis.
The municipality indicated in press statements published by international news agencies, that stopping energy sources threatens a paralysis in the operation of water and sanitation facilities and the rest of the services that save the people of the sector.
The municipality also called on the United Nations organizations to intervene and enforce the ways of life for the sector and pressure the Israeli occupation.
Diseases and epidemics in Gaza
In a related context, the formation of wastewater pools and its spread among the tents of the displaced east of Gaza City, as a result of the destruction of the occupation, the infrastructure throughout the sector, with the spread of epidemics and various types of diseases transmitted by insects and mosquitoes.
The municipality of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, announced today, Saturday, its forced stopping from providing private and agricultural water wells with fuel, as a result of the continued Israeli siege and the closure of the crossings, which prevents the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel.
The mayor of Rafah, Ahmed Al -Soufi, confirmed in a statement that the municipality was providing fuel to operate 80 special water wells, in addition to the main wells, in order to ensure that the water reached the neighborhoods that citizens returned in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions.
