The Supreme Council for the Environment announced the date of the start of the validity of Resolution No. (7) of 2024 regarding the regulation of waste transport licenses, as of Thursday, March 13, 2025.
The Supreme Council for the Environment stressed that the decision comes within the framework of the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain to enhance environmental control and ensure the commitment of the concerned authorities to health, environmental and economic standards, and the decision also represents a pivotal step towards achieving the integrated waste management.
The Council called on all relevant authorities to adhere to the specific requirements, as this is a fundamental role in preserving the environment and public health and achieving environmental sustainability, stressing the importance of full commitment to the provisions of the decision, where the necessary legal measures will be taken against any violation or violation, to ensure adherence to the approved environmental standards, and stressing that commitment to this decision represents a legal and environmental responsibility that contributes to reducing health risks Environmental, and enhances the principles of sustainable management of waste.
The Supreme Council for the Environment pointed out that all companies must obtain a license to transfer waste through: http://envservices.gov.bh, through the owner of the vehicle or his representative law, attached to it a certificate of ownership and an annual report on the vehicle’s activity, and acknowledging the commitment to the terms and conditions of the transfer license prepared by the council, and a plan for accident management and spills during the transportation process, in addition to what is reported to install system devices The geographical tracking of the vehicle’s path and detection devices for charging and unloading waste and linking it to the electronic system that STC Bahrain will provide according to the previously announced mechanism.
The Supreme Council for the Environment stated that the license period is one year renewable, indicating that the ministerial decision has set a set of obligations that the waste carrier must adhere to during the transfer process, in Article Five. The decision also specified the specifications of transport vehicles for all types of waste, and that the CEO may stop the license for a period not exceeding three months in the event of violating the conditions of the license, and those who violate the provisions of the decision may be punished with the penalties stipulated in Law No. (7) of 2022 regarding the environment.
