Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, reviewed the position of allocating land for new and renewable energy projects, especially green hydrogen, and energy position next summer, in a meeting held today in the presence of Eng. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ahmed Kajuk, Minister of Finance, Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Yasser Sobhi, Deputy Minister of Finance for Financial Policy, Eng. Sabah Masali, Deputy Minister of Electricity Renewable energy, Major General Nasser Fawzi, Director of the National Center for the Planning of State Lands, Engineer Ihab Ismail, Acting Chairman of the New and Renewable Energy Authority, Mrs. Sherine Al -Sharqawi, Assistant Minister of Finance for Economic Affairs, and Mr. Rami Youssef, Assistant Minister of Finance for Policies and Tax Development.
The Prime Minister reviews the energy situation next summer
During the meeting, Eng. Mahmoud Esmat presented, in detail, in detail the capabilities and sites of green hydrogen production projects, the most prominent projects that were delivered to the start of studies, the projects that will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, and also presented documents related to green hydrogen projects, and the map of implementation of each agreement for various renewable energy projects, and includes 8 understanding notes and 15 frameworks, which are stigmatized with 23 companies and alliances.
The Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy also presented the determinants of the ministry’s plan to prepare for the summer of 2025 in coordination with the various concerned authorities, where he dealt with the position of providing the quantities of fuel and natural gas needed to operate the power plants, in addition to the position of renewable power stations expected to enter the service during the next summer, and the impact of this on achieving the target savings in fuel.
In turn, Major General Nasser Fawzi presented the status of land allocation for new and renewable energy projects since 2016 until now, in various targeted areas, including the spaces issued by Republican decisions, and decisions are being issued regarding them, explaining that the total areas issued by Republican decisions in this regard are about 41.3 thousand km2, and decisions are currently being issued for a total of 4859.3 km2, The general total of the areas designated for this purpose is approximately 46.2 thousand km2, equivalent to about 10.9 million acres.
The Director of the National Center for Planning the Uses of the State also presented the details of the study of a number of sites that are considered allocated to implement new and renewable energy projects and the production of hydrogen and green ammonia, in several governorates, as well as the position of the requests submitted to the Suez Canal General Authority to allocate new sites to establish projects for these purposes, and includes a project in the Port Said region to produce green ammonia and nourish it using productive energy from Green electricity with a capacity of 5.5 GB, and two other projects in East Port Said to produce hydrogen and green ammonia, potassium chloride and caustic soda, extracted from sea water; With feeding the two projects using electricity produced from renewable energy sources, whether from wind energy or solar energy, with a capacity of 13 GB.
