Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq, President of Cairo University, held a meeting at Ahmed Lotfi El -Sayed Hall, with the Supreme Committee for Artificial Intelligence, where the executive steps reached, and discussion of arrangements for the first international conference of artificial intelligence, which are scheduled to be held next October.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Al -Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Ragab, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Ghada Abdel -Bari, the work of the Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Eng. For the technology, Dr. Thuraya Al -Badawi, Dean of the Faculty of Information, Dr. Amal Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Physiotherapy, Dr. Jala Al -Azab, Dean of the National Institute of Laser Sciences, Dr. Shahinaz Jamal, Director of the University’s Business Incubators, and Dr. Haitham Safwat Hamza, Director of the Electronic and Cognitive Services Center.
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq, President of the University, stated that the meeting reviewed the five training courses held for faculty members during the period from January 23 to February 6, which benefited 350 members of the university’s teaching staff, where during these training courses, awareness of the university’s strategy for artificial intelligence, and the introduction of the Egyptian state’s efforts to develop the uses of artificial intelligence, and presented some uses of artificial intelligence tools, The university’s policies for its use, and the support of faculty with paid copies of its most important programs.
The President of the University explained that the meeting discussed the results of the questionnaire for artificial intelligence that was circulated to the faculty members and the assisting body, in which 1264 members participated in a study and aid body, where its results explained that 53.1% use artificial intelligence tools in teaching, while 63.7% use artificial intelligence in scientific research, and that 51.3% allow students to use intelligence tools Artificial, and 17.9% know that there is a national council for artificial intelligence in Egypt, and 28.6% have knowledge of the university’s strategy for artificial intelligence, while 19% have awareness of the existence of a document of artificial intelligence in Egypt.
The discussions at the meeting dealt with the position and mechanisms of raising the activities of artificial intelligence from colleges on the university platform designated for this purpose, and these discussions also concluded several decisions, including the adoption of a compulsory training course on the mechanisms of using artificial intelligence in teaching and scientific research within the requirements of faculty promotions, and organizing a workshop for the coordinator of artificial intelligence units in various colleges of the university, as well as announcing the organization of a discussion seminar on rules And the ethics of the responsible use of artificial intelligence within the activities of the university’s cultural season.
