Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, received a delegation from the European Union headed by Stefano Sanino, Director General of the Middle East and North Africa, to discuss expanding the horizons of cooperation in a way that contributes to the sustainability of Egyptian relief efforts for the Gaza Strip, in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions in the sector.

This came within the framework of implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi to provide all aspects of humanitarian aid and health support to the Palestinian brothers.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that the meeting reviewed the developments of the Egyptian rescue and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, which includes the provision of medical and relief services to Palestinian brothers since the outbreak of the crisis.
The meeting also discussed the readiness of Egyptian hospitals to receive the Palestinian wounded, as the preparation of emergency and intensive care departments and internal residency rooms were reviewed to accommodate the injured, in addition to the readiness of medical teams in various specialties to provide all health care aspects to the wounded and patients from the Gaza Strip.
The meeting also dealt with ways to enhance joint cooperation to provide medical and humanitarian needs for the Palestinians and rehabilitate the Palestinian health system, and mechanisms for providing psychological support to the people of Gaza, especially children who were subjected to psychological trauma during the recent crisis, were discussed, and the Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Egypt is fully ready to provide its expertise to support the Palestinian people and meet its health and humanitarian needs, within the framework of its historical role in supporting the Palestinian issue.
At the end of the meeting, the minister called on the European Union delegation to visit medical facilities in North Sinai and the neighboring governorates, to see the Egyptian efforts in providing health care to the Palestinians residing in Egyptian hospitals.
For his part, Stefano Sanino praised the relief efforts made by Egypt to support the Palestinian people, stressing that Cairo plays a pivotal role to follow in the current crisis, and also expressed his aspiration to enhance joint cooperation between Egypt and the European Union to support the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and to meet the health and humanitarian needs of the Palestinians in light of the current challenges.
The meeting witnessed the attendance of a number of leaders of the Ministry of Health and Population, among them Dr. Ahmed Saafan, Assistant Minister for Hospital Affairs, Dr. Amr Rashid, Chairman of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, Dr. Peter Wajih, Head of the Medical Medicine Sector, Dr. Hatem Amer, Minister of the Minister for International Relations. Zaimis, head of the Federation’s commercial unit.
