Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a meeting today with the French ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Eric Chevalier, to discuss ways to enhance educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries and support academic exchange.
This came in the presence of Dr. Amr Boussila, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education, Dr. and Dr. Hanim Ahmed, Advisor to the Minister for Protocols and Agreements and Professor Amira Awad, the ministry coordinator for United Nations organizations, and from the French side, Mr. David Sadolh, Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Adviser and Mr. Daniel Renult, Cultural Attaché for Educational Cooperation and Mrs. Clemence Vidal Dilaplash, the Qatari director of the Agency For development.
Plans to create 100 Egyptian French schools
During the meeting, Minister Mohamed Abdel -Latif stressed the importance of enhancing educational cooperation between Egypt and France, in order to achieve the Ministry’s goals in developing the education system and expanding the horizons of learning in front of Egyptian students.
The Minister pointed out that this cooperation is not limited to teaching the French language, but also extends to the transfer of the French experience in developing educational curricula, qualifying teachers, and applying the latest interactive teaching methods.
He also stressed the importance of benefiting from the opportunities available in the field of education in the two countries, noting that cooperation can contribute to developing the quality of the educational process in a way that keeps pace with global changes.
For his part, the French ambassador expressed his country’s keenness to support joint educational initiatives and expand the scope of the French language teaching in Egypt.
The French ambassador pointed out that his country sees in Egypt a strategic partner in the educational and cultural field, stressing France’s commitment to supporting the training of Egyptian teachers, through advanced qualifying programs that ensure the mastery of the latest methods of teaching the French language, in order to achieve the highest quality standards in the educational process.
The two sides discussed a number of topics aimed at developing educational cooperation between Egypt and France, the most prominent of which is the support of schools that adopt the French language as a first language, and the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in the “Trefle” project to develop French curricula and upgrading the professional level of French teachers.
The plans of establishing new French schools were discussed in Egypt, where the Ministry aims to establish 100 Egyptian French schools by 2030, by strengthening the partnership between the French educational authorities and the Egyptian government and supporting the Egyptian private educational sector to establish schools that apply the French curriculum.
The launch of a special educational program was discussed after the end of the school day, targeting 5,000 students in 100 Egyptian schools, during which the French side provides curricula, teachers training, quality supervision, and a certificate (DEF) at subsidized prices.
The meeting also touched on the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of technical and technical education, as it is one of the main axes of youth rehabilitation for the labor market in accordance with international standards, as the minister stressed that partnership with France in this field contributes to developing technical education curricula, enhancing practical training programs, and introducing modern specializations that meet the needs of the developed industrial sectors.
In this context, the meeting dealt with ways to enhance cooperation to attract French companies to enter into partnerships with the Egyptian Ministry of Education to launch applied technology schools in various specialties, where Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif reviewed the results of his visits to Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as his intensive meetings with the Italian Minister of Education, during his visit to Egypt, which focused on enhancing cooperation in the field of partnerships to launch applied technology schools in specializations that meet the needs of Labor market.
