Volkswagen’s brand head said that the company will focus the sales strategy for its electric car, which costs 20 thousand euros (21580 USD), which will be offered in 2027 in Europe, adding that the auto industry company needs to reduce the costs of batteries to sell it at this price.
Volkswagen electric car is targeting Europe
The first car will be the Volkswagen squad, which is characterized by software from its joint project with the Revyan Electric Car Industry Company, which is based in the United States of America, which requires less electronic controllers and much less wires, which reduces the weight of the car and simplifies manufacturing.
The Volkswagen brand plans to launch eight new electrical models at reasonable prices by 2027, including a model of 25,000 euros called ID.2 and is expected to reach the market this year.
While there are only a few models, such as Dacia Spring or Leapmotor’s T03, in Europe with less than 20,000 euros, 11 new models will be offered at a price of less than 25,000 euros for sale on the continent this year including Renault R5, Fiat Grand Panda and Hyundai Inster.
The negotiations collapsed between Renault and Volkswagen to combine the forces to produce an electric version at reasonable prices from the Twingo from Renault last year, leaving Renault to launch the car alone in 2026.
The Volkswagen brand works to reduce energy and costs to free its financial resources to invest in building cheaper EV models while struggling to protect its market share from Chinese competitors.
