The House of Representatives participated in the “Earth Hour” event by extinguishing the lights and unnecessary electrical appliances on Saturday, March 22, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.
The House of Representatives interacted with this campaign in support of global efforts and trends in the face of climate change and the preservation of the environment, and to protect the planet and build a more sustainable future, to ensure a better environmental life for man, as well as a contribution from the Council to spread awareness of the importance of rationalization and energy efficiency, in order to enhance environmental sustainability efforts.
The participation of the House of Representatives in this event also came in response to the invitation of the Electricity and Water Authority for all institutions, ministries, companies and members of society in the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the Earth Hour event, by extinguishing the lights and unnecessary electrical appliances for an hour, which is the largest environmental event of its kind in the world. This campaign organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) annually is part of an initiative to encourage individuals and institutions to reduce global climate change, in order to raise awareness of the danger of climate change.
It is noteworthy that the “Earth Hour” event is one of the largest global environmental initiatives in which hundreds of cities around the world participate, to highlight the importance of taking sustainable measures to protect natural resources, reduce carbon footprint and preserve the environment.
