Moroccan artist Naima Samih died in the early hours of Saturday morning, at the age of 72, after a long struggle with illness.
According to Moroccan media, the artist Naima Samih has suffered years ago from anemia, as her health has deteriorated in the past few months, due to her suffering with cancer, as she was transferred to the military hospital in Rabat, to receive the necessary treatment, until she passed away.
The news of the death of the artist Naima Samih sparked widespread sadness and sympathy within the Moroccan artistic circles, and a number of artists and public figures called it through social media, among them, Mohamed Mahdi bin Saeed, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, saying that “the late one is one of the artistic stature that left an immortal imprint in the Moroccan conscience.”
For her part, the singer Jannat published a picture that she gathered with the artist Naima Samih through her official account on “Instagram”, she called her saying: “We lost, today, a great artist, and a Moroccan voice that will not be repeated, a person from the best of God’s creation, O God, have mercy on her, and her family and son Shams, and make her from the people of Paradise.”
Saad commented through his official account on “Instagram”, saying: “May God have mercy on Mrs. Naima Samih, the icon of the Moroccan ritual, and one of the closest artists to my heart humanly, she was an example of purity and kindness, with her unforgettable memories, I pray to God to have mercy on her with a wide mercy, and dwell in his vast paradise.”
While the star Samira Said regained her childhood memories with the late artist, and published a video that brings them together while driving a motorcycle, and commented on the news of Naima Samih’s death through her official page on “Facebook” by saying: “Today I lost a child’s girlfriend, a great part of my memories, and a always bright face in life and automatic.”
It should be noted that the artist Naima Samih disappeared from the artistic scene, in the year 2007, suddenly, without announcing her retirement, and the year 2016 witnessed her recent artistic appearance, during her honor at the “Women’s Voices” festival in Tetouan, according to local newspapers.
