Engineer Margaret Saoufim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, Daniela Balremo, represented by the International Institute for Advanced Agricultural Studies for the Mediterranean States in Italy, “Siam Barry Institute” in Egypt and the accompanying delegation, where the meeting discussed areas of joint cooperation.
This came in the presence of Dina Al -Serafi, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for International Cooperation, International Relations and Agreements, Professor Hossam Al -Zumar, a financial and administrative consultant for the Conditional Monetary Support Program Takaful and Dignity and the Financial and Administrative Adviser to the Fund for Environmental and Rural Industries, and Professor Amira Taj Al -Din, Director General of the General Administration of International Conventions and Relations.
Safim appreciated cooperation with the “Siam Barry Institute” as an important partner to implement development projects in the context of supporting and empowering the first categories of care, as the meeting discussed proposed axes for the draft strategic partnership agreement to implement a project aimed at enhancing the employment of youth and women in Sohag Governorate, by supporting the establishment of startups designated for the green sector within the framework of the regional program funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The cooperation project aims to enhance sustainable economic development in Sohag Governorate by supporting entrepreneurship for youth and women through the development of small and medium enterprises (MSMES) in the green economy sector, where the project is in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the sustainable development goals, especially the goals related to decent work and economic growth.
The project also aims to integrate informal institutions into the official market by providing integrated support services, supporting regularity in the official economy to achieve economic empowerment, finding an environment in support of income -generating projects, providing forms of sustainable development partnerships, in addition to enhancing the institutional capabilities of public bodies in Sohag to support policies and programs for business leadership.
The meeting also witnessed the discussion of the implementation axes of improving the entrepreneurial environment by developing government support programs, launching a digital platform for services, enhancing cooperation between local bodies and business support institutions, as well as enhancing the social and economic impact of emerging institutions through specialized training programs, supporting innovation in the green economy, and linking local companies to Italian institutions to enhance partnerships.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Italian region of Polia, the Egyptian Social Solidarity Ministry, the Sohag Chamber of Commerce, the Egyptian-European Business Association (CIIBA), Ciheam Barry, and local business support institutions.
