The General Authority for Social Insurance confirmed that the total beneficiaries of the inclusion of the terms of virtual service during the year 2023 amounted to 1,169 cases, including 593 cases that were accepted in accordance with the provisions of Resolution No. 47 of 2023 regarding the conditions and procedures for including the virtual service period for employees subject to the provisions of the aforementioned law, while the number of retirees who included the default service periods reached 594 employees in the year 2023.
As for the inclusion of previous years of service, the authority explained in its response to the question of Representative Jalal Kazem, that in the year 2023, requests to include the previous years of service reached 179 requests, including 154 cases that deserved the pension.
With regard to the financial cost carried by retirees from the two categories referred to above, the cost of the annexation reached 7.6 million Bahraini dinars in the year 2023, knowing that part of the cost is paid under monthly installments deducted from the pensions due under Law No. 13 of 1975, where the law permits – before amendment – for employees to continue to pay the cost of annexation in the event of the end of the service before Full installment payment.
The General Authority for Social Insurance stated that it is committed under the laws of retirement and social insurance to insurance coverage from the professional dangers of workers in the public sector and the private sector, and the insurance coverage extends to include those working for their own account, free professionals and employers, and accordingly the authority is committed to disbursing retirement and insurance benefits when entitled.
With regard to the number of new retirees during the year 2023, their number in the public sector reached 2,021 individuals, and the percentage of retirees of them was before the normal retirement age specified at 60 years of 93% in the public sector, while in the private sector, the number of new retirees reached 3,570 individuals, 89% of whom represent retirees before the age of 60 years, which reflects the volume of benefit from early retirement systems in both sectors.
As for the impact of early retirement opportunities in issuing the end -of -service bonus system for non -Bahrainis working in the private sector, the Prime Minister’s decision No. 109 of 2023 regulates the conditions and conditions for calculating the reward and the value of monthly subscriptions due to employers, and therefore this system does not affect cases of retirement pension entitlement to citizens subject to retirement laws and social insurance.
