After repeating the absence from the academic seats during the holy month of Ramadan, schools addressed parents, that students should adhere to school attendance regularly, while hinting to take legal measures towards the absentees. In a letter addressed to the parents, she emphasized that this comes based on Law No. (27) of 2005 regarding education, Article Six and Eighth, which is obligated to parents to ensure the regularity of their children in the study.
The law states that basic education is the right of children who reach the age of six, and the Kingdom is committed to providing them, while parents are responsible for implementing this commitment for at least nine academic years. The law also provides for the imposition of a fine of 100 dinars on the guardian of the absent student without an acceptable excuse for a month of school, with the possibility of legal action after officially warning the violators.
The ministry called on parents to cooperate to ensure the regularity of students in the study, in order to avoid any legal consequences that may result in unjustified absence.
