The coach of the Saudi national team, Irvi Renard, sparked widespread controversy after his remarks during the press conference after Al -Akhdar tied negatively against Japan, in the qualifiers for Asia qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
“If you told me yesterday that we will draw in Japan 0-0, I would have signed immediately and agreed to that,” Renard said, which the fans considered a frustrating statement that is not worthy of the aspirations of the Saudi national team.
A wide segment of Al -Akhdar fans expressed his dissatisfaction with the coach’s position, considering that the team is lacking ambition and challenge, despite the great development witnessed by Saudi football recently.
Some also demanded his dismissal, stressing that facing Japan was not impossible as the French coach showed.
The Saudi team is currently in third place in the table of its group with 10 points, behind the second -ranked Australian team with 13 points, which holds the accounts of the direct qualification for the World Cup.
