NASA’s astronaut Michael Barrett confirmed that Bahrain is taking important steps towards building an advanced generation in space science, as many Bahraini students participate in specialized training programs, such as the space camp at the American Space and Missile Center, which contributes to developing their scientific and technical skills.
He congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain and the National Agency for Space Sciences on the launch of the first Bahraini satellite, “Al -Mundhir”, noting that this achievement reflects Bahrain’s commitment to the development of the space sector and promoting technological innovation.
Barrett pointed out that “Al -Mundhir” depends on artificial intelligence to analyze images and track environmental changes, which makes it an important tool to support scientific studies and develop future plans based on accurate data.
He explained that “Al -Mundhir” represents a qualitative shift in scientific research, as its advanced techniques provide scientists the opportunity to study the effects of the atmosphere and understand environmental changes more accurately, which contributes to enhancing knowledge about the planet.
He stressed that space cooperation between Bahrain and NASA enhances the scientific and technological partnership between the two countries, and reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to the principles of peaceful use of space, transparency, and data exchange, which opens new horizons for joint space exploration.
“We support the space program in Bahrain, and we look forward to seeing more Bahraini students participating in exploring space, because space is the future,” Barrett said.
