Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the approval of the Council of Ministers to officially nominate the Kingdom of Bahrain to obtain a permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council for the period (2026-2027), in order to enhance its role as an active international partner in establishing security and peace and coexistence and supporting the sustainable development goals and serving humanity as a firm approach under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country.
The Foreign Minister explained that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s candidacy to occupy this international position represents the embodiment of the Royal Royal vision, and the government’s directions headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in consolidating the international partnership to bring peace and regional and global prosperity, deepen solidarity and human brother Joint development interests, adherence to the rules of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

He stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain aspires through its unclean membership in the Security Council to activate the role of the international community in consolidating solidarity and prosperity and the preservation of international peace and security, putting at the forefront of its priorities: consolidating sustainable peace and dialogue in settling conflicts, and strengthening humanitarian action in the relief of those affected by disasters and crises, combating extremism and terrorism, ensuring cybersecurity, environmental, nutritional and water security And the sea, enhancing the effectiveness of multilateral international cooperation, under the umbrella of the United Nations, and raising confidence in the Security Council to perform its duties with transparency, efficiency and comprehensiveness.
The Foreign Minister affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to continue its diplomatic contributions in consolidating the values of tolerance, coexistence and civilizational dialogue in accordance with the principles of the “Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain” for religious freedoms, translating the noble humanitarian goals of its global initiatives represented in the launch of the “King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance”, and the United Nations for the International Day for peaceful coexistence on the initiative of the King Hamad International Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, after the call of His Majesty the King before the Parliamentary Union The international to approve an international agreement to criminalize the speeches of religious, sectarian and racist hatred, and work to spread the culture of peace, understanding and acceptance of the other, and to enhance the nakedness of brotherhood and friendship among nations.
The Foreign Minister added that the Kingdom of Bahrain, through its active membership in the United Nations Organization for more than five decades, and its aspiration for the membership of the Security Council, and in the context of its current presidency of the Council of the League of Arab States, and its balanced and constructive international strategic partnerships, will continue its efforts to follow up the activation of the leading initiatives of His Majesty the King, which was approved by the thirty -third Arab Summit “Bahrain Summit” regarding holding an international peace conference in the Middle East, and supporting recognition Complete in the State of Palestine and accepting its membership in the United Nations, providing educational and health services for those affected by conflicts, developing Arab and international cooperation in the field of financial technology and digital transformation, supporting the sustainable development goals and principles of the future charter, and its lofty purposes.
