The Medical Syndicate holds extensive meetings today and tomorrow with members of the sub -union councils, in the context of discussing the report of the Joint Committee from the Health Affairs Committee and the offices of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committees, Economic Affairs, and Human Rights, regarding the draft medical responsibility and the safety of the patient, scheduled to be presented in the plenary session of the House of Representatives next Sunday.

The Medical Syndicate is intensifying its meetings to discuss the law of medical responsibility before it is presented in Parliament

During the meeting that took place today through Zoom technology with a number of captains and members of the sub -union councils, the participants reviewed their visions and observations on the draft law, to include them within the amendments and observations of the Medical Syndicate and its viewpoint that will be presented by the captain of the doctors, Dr. Osama Abdel -Hay, on the plenary session of the House of Representatives, which the union sees the necessity to enter to ensure the issuance of a fair and balanced law, which includes that the Higher Committee for Medical Responsibility is to be The technical expert of the investigation and litigation authorities, and that there be a clear discrimination in the definitions between medical complications, medical error, and serious neglect, and that there is compulsory insurance against the errors of the profession that bears full compensation to ensure the patient’s right, and to emphasize the absence of responsibility in medical complications, and that the punishment in the usual errors is appropriate financial penalties – borne by insurance – and in serious neglect is a criminal punishment.

In this context, the General Union of Doctors is making extensive contacts with the parliamentary blocs in the House of Representatives to explain its point of view on the draft law and clarify the amendments that it demands, within the framework of its efforts to ensure the achievement of the best possible formula for the draft law, in order to achieve a balance between protecting the rights of doctors and ensuring patient safety and providing safe and fair medical service to all.

It is noteworthy that the Medical Syndicate was the first to demand for several years to formulate a draft law for medical responsibility, which contributes to organizing the relationship between doctors and patients on fair and balanced foundations, defining rights and responsibilities, and taking into account the privacy of the profession, and ending the suffering of doctors from their treatment under the Criminal Penal Code in which there is no distinction between the medical error mentioned and serious neglect, threatening doctors throughout the time by being subjected to imprisonment Balance.
