On Monday, Algeria rejected a list of 60 Algerians for deportation, which it received from France a few days ago, according to a statement by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemning this step.

The statement, which was reported by “Agence France Presse”, stated that Algeria “confirms its categorical rejection of the language of threat, promises, and leousing and all forms of extortion.”

In its statement, Algeria expressed its objection to “the selective approach to France regarding the bilateral and international agreements that link the two countries.”

The Secretary -General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lunas Maktman, received Monday, the ChargĂ© d’Affairs of the French Embassy in Algeria, regarding a list of Algeria on the 14th of March, with the names of Algerians “issued against them by removal decisions,” according to the ministry.

Muqrman handed over his interlocutors a verbal note that includes the official response from the Algerian authorities that Algeria “confirms its categorical rejection of the language of threat, promises, and shameful and all forms of extortion.”

In terms of form, Algeria explained that “France cannot decide, unilaterally and unilaterally, to reconsider the regular channels designated for the treatment of deportations.”

With regard to the content, the Algerian response affirmed that “the 1994 agreement protocol cannot be applied in isolation from the 1974 consular relations agreement that remains the main reference framework in the consular field between the two countries.”
