The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Free Markets Complex Company, Abdullah Boundi, confirmed that the company has turned in recent years into a holding company, with a limited investment in the property, noting that the company is seeking to expand the activities of free markets in Bahrain and abroad, especially at Bahrain Airport, where it needs larger spaces, and negotiates with the airport management to obtain this.
This came on the sidelines of the meeting of the General Assembly of the Bahrain Free Markets Complex Company, where 10 members were elected to membership of the Board of Directors to occupy ten seats for a three-year period of 2025-2028, and each of: His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Sheikh Muhammad bin Ali bin Muhammad Al Khalifa, Abdullah Boundi, Jihad Amin, Muhammad Al-Moayad, Muhammad Al-Khan, Amal Mohil, Muhammad, Muhammad Al -Zain and Tariq Fakhro were chosen as reserve members. The General Assembly approved the recommendation of the Board of Directors to distribute cash dividends to shareholders at 35% of the capital and the paid, with a total amount of 4.980 million dinars, provided that the profits are paid no later than March 27.
Bohndi pointed out that the company covers all international brands, and is ready to receive any new brand entering the Bahraini market, in addition to plans to expand outside Bahrain, with the company’s acquisition of 3%, in Abu Dhabi, stressing that the company is always looking towards development and improvement.
He said that the free market company is constantly seeking regional expansion, especially in the Saudi market and the Emirates market, adding: “We look at any opportunity through which expansion can be expanded, and any opportunities we will try, so all our money we invest it.” The ordinary general assembly – in which the quorum reached 94.5% of the present shares – agreed to allocate 65 thousand dinars as a reward for the members of the Board of Directors, after the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Besides discharge the members of the Board of Directors, regarding their actions in the end of the fiscal year, December 31, 2024, and this is the removal of the remaining net profits of 53.9 thousand dinars to the advanced profits.
