Because of this injury, the Spanish Federation announced the absence of Cassado from the Spain national team, as it was on the list of the team participating in the European League quarter -finals against the Netherlands.
Coach Louis de La Venette decided to summon Alex Garcia, the German player Bayer Leverkusen, to replace Cassado on the national team list.
