Forest fires forced a mandatory evacuation in a province of North Carolina, where emergency teams are struggling with separate fires in an area still recovering from Hurricane Helen at the same time. South Carolina governor announced the state of emergency in response to the growing forest fires.
For its part, the General Safety Department of North Carolina announced in a statement carried by the American “Associated Press” news agency, today, a mandatory evacuation starting from 8:20 pm local time for parts of Paulk Province in the west of the state, which is about 80 miles away, or about 129 km “west of Charlotte.
The administration said in its statement: “The vision will decrease in the area, and the roads and evacuation paths may be closed, if you do not leave now, you may be besieged, injured or killed.”
The Public Safety Department announced the establishment of a shelter in the Columbus region, North Carolina.
