Istanbul in Türkiye announced the ban on demonstrations, gatherings and press conferences in the rest of the state for a period of four days, after the arrest of the Istanbul Mayor Akram Imamoglu, as part of a decision that includes 100 opposition political figures.
Istanbul state stated in its statement that it was decided to prohibit various forms of meeting, demonstrations and press conferences during the period between 19 and 23 March, to cut the road on the provocative work that may occur and maintain public security in the city.
Accusations of Akram Imamoglu
According to Turkish media, social media was affected and communication applications as an application of WhatsApp from the imposed restrictions.
After the restrictions imposed by the state of Istanbul, the Netblocks Freedom Freedom Plastic platform announced that restrictions were imposed on many social media platforms inside Türkiye, including Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Tik Talk.
This morning, Istanbul Prosecutor issued arrest decisions against 100 people, including the mayor of Istanbul, Akram Imamoglu, the strong political rival of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as part of two separate investigations.
I was charged with the suspects, including Imamoglu, accusations of the leadership of a criminal organization, to obtain bribes, fraud and manipulation of tenders.
