Al -Malab newspaper – The Barcelona and Osasuna match was postponed in the 27th round of the Spanish Football League “La Liga”, indefinitely, due to the death of the Barca doctor, Carles Mennara Garcia.
The match was scheduled to take place yesterday, Saturday, on the ground of the Barcelona stadium “Luis Kombanis”, but the death of the young doctor suddenly prompted the Catalan club administration to request the postponement of the meeting, which was approved.
Barcelona issued an official statement, in which he said: “With great sadness and sorrow, Barcelona mourns the death of the first team doctor, Carles Mennara Garcia, on Saturday evening. That is why the painful reason was decided to postpone the Barcelona and Osasuna match.”
Possible appointments to hold the Barcelona and Osasuna match
It is expected that the Spanish League, along with Barcelona and Osasuna officials, will hold a later meeting to set a new date for the postponed match, but the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” indicated that choosing a new date for the meeting will not be easy.
Mondo Deportivo explained that Barcelona is still a rival in the three main championships this season (the Spanish League, King of Spain Cup, Champions League), noting that Barca arrived in the final match in the King’s Cup and Champions League, may mean holding the Osasuna confrontation after more than two months, specifically after the May of May.
The Catalan newspaper added that the failure of Barca to reach the local cup final, may give the League an opportunity to schedule the Barcelona and Osasuna match during the last week of next April, while there will be a greater temporary space for the confrontation, in the event that Barca fails to qualify for a quarter or semi -final of the Champions League.
Barcelona had a valuable victory (1-0) outside its bases against the Portuguese Benfica, in the first leg of the Champions League final, so that the Catalan team would be close to reaching the quarter-finals of the continental championship.
As for the King’s Cup, Barca tied 4-4 with its guest Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals, knowing that the return match between the two teams will take place on April 2.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona is ranked first in the Spanish league standings, with 57 points from 26 games (18 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses), one point ahead of Atletico Madrid, and 3 points difference over Real Madrid third.
