The government of Osama Hammad in eastern Libya, Victor Karankvich, Vice Prime Minister of the Belarusian, received to sign a set of agreements that stipulate the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two sides in various fields, in the wake of the visit of Khalifa Haftar, the leader of the Libyan National Army, to Minsk last month and his meeting with the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko last month.
Libyan media said that the Libyan Prime Minister charged with the House of Representatives Osama Hammad signed with the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Victor Karankvich, in Benghazi, memoranda of understanding for joint cooperation in a number of fields.
The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the visit of the Vice Prime Minister of Belarusi to Benghazi, accompanied by a delegation that includes a ministerial that includes the Deputy Foreign Minister and the Ministers of Industry, Agriculture, Health, Emergency and Education, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belarusian State Petroleum and Chemistry Company.
Cooperation between Belarus and Libya
The Memorandum of Understanding includes cooperation in the sectors of agriculture, food security, industry, geological exploration services, health care and medicine and training of doctors and medical workers, in the field of education and human development, in the security field, maintaining public order, and prevention of natural disasters, by exchanging the best experiences in the field of disaster prevention, response to emergency situations, training, and equipment supply.
The two sides also agreed to establish a joint communication group to coordinate cooperation and follow up the implementation of agreements concluded between the two countries, while exchanging information on the group’s coordinators from both parties and setting clear mechanisms to achieve actual progress in the areas of priority cooperation, by identifying the authorities authorized to develop and implement joint projects, and preparing road maps that include agreements, contracts and bilateral work plans.
The government assigned to the Libyan deputies indicated that the visit of the Belarusian delegation comes in light of the strengthening of relations between the two countries, and raising the levels of bilateral cooperation in all agricultural, industrial, technical and health fields, in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries.
