Since the team assumed the full responsibility of the Ministry of Transport in March, two thousand and nineteen, he was known for the hard work and the ability to face major challenges, as he managed, during a short period, to create a development revolution in the transport and transportation sector, which prompted the political leadership to assign the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry to it later to fight a new challenge in one of the most important and complex economic files in Egypt
The industry was and still is one of the main pillars to achieve sustainable development and increase the rates of economic growth, but for many years it faced many problems that hindered its development, including the failure of factories and great dependence on import and weak competitiveness of local products and the lack of trained labor and with his assumption of this file the entire minister began to diagnose challenges and put radical solutions to them through a strategic vision aimed at converting Egypt into a regional industrial center He is able to meet the needs of the local market and competition in global markets.
With the assumption of the industry file, the team set the full minister, a comprehensive and ambitious plan aimed at advancing the Egyptian industrial sector through a strategic vision that relies on deepening local manufacturing, restarting the parked factories, developing existing factories, stimulating innovation, scientific research, improving the business environment, enhancing exports, and qualifying human cadres, and through these axes, the minister seeks to create a strong industrial base that guarantees Egypt to achieve self -sufficiency and reduce the import bill and promote Exports.
One of the most important problems that the entire team sought to solve is the crisis of the troubled factories that was a great burden on the national economy, as Egypt includes hundreds of closed factories that stopped for financial, administrative or operational reasons, so the priority of the minister was to restart these factories by providing financial and administrative support to them and finding innovative solutions to their operational problems, whether by providing raw materials or rehabilitation of employment, and these efforts resulted in restarting the number of Great factories with a plan to complete the operation of the rest of the factories in the coming years.
Besides restarting the parked factories, the entire minister realized that existing factories need a comprehensive development in order to become able to compete locally and internationally, and therefore launched initiatives aimed at modernizing production lines and adopting advanced technology in manufacturing processes and improving operating efficiency to raise productivity rates and reduce costs, as well as to enhance integration between major factories and feeding industries to ensure deepening local manufacturing and reducing the need to import Ingredients and raw materials from the outside, which is a pivotal step to achieve self -sufficiency and reduce commercial deficit.
In this context, a number of strategic industries, such as engineering industries, pharmaceutical industries, electronic industries, and transportation industry were resettled, as international companies were attracted to invest in Egypt, as well as encouraging local companies to manufacture components that were imported from abroad, which is reflected positively on the Egyptian economy by providing foreign exchange and providing more job opportunities.
One of the obstacles that faced the industrial sector in Egypt is the complexity of the bureaucratic procedures that were an obstacle for investors, and therefore the team’s full minister worked to simplify administrative procedures and reduce the time of issuing industrial licenses and prepare an attractive climate for investment by providing tax and financing incentives for investors, which contributed to attracting many new industrial investments to Egypt during the recent period.
The efforts of the team, the entire minister, were not limited to improving the local investment environment, but rather extended to enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, as a plan was developed to increase industrial exports by opening new markets, especially in African, Arab, European countries, and providing support to exporters, whether by providing financial incentives or providing logistical facilities that help in facilitating shipping and export operations. The focus was also on the development of the maritime, air and land transport system to ensure the access of Egyptian products to Foreign markets at the lowest cost and as soon as possible, which contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
These efforts have resulted in a noticeable increase in export rates, especially in the promising industrial sectors such as food, engineering and chemical industries, and with the continued implementation of this strategy, it is expected that Egyptian exports will achieve a major boom during the coming years, which will contribute to reducing the trade deficit and increasing the sources of national income from foreign exchange.
In recognition of the importance of the human element in developing the industry, the first team, the entire minister, paid special attention to the rehabilitation and training of technical workers, as several initiatives were launched aimed at developing technical and industrial education in cooperation with local and international educational institutions to ensure the rehabilitation of Egyptian cadres capable of dealing with the latest manufacturing technology.
A number of vocational training centers that provide specialized programs have been established and developed in various industrial sectors with the aim of improving workers and technicians and raising the level of productivity. The major factories have also been encouraged to establish internal training academies to qualify employment according to their actual needs, which contributes to reducing the gap between the requirements of the labor market and graduate skills.
The entire team believes that the industry is the primary driver to achieve sustainable economic development in Egypt and therefore seeks every effort to make this sector more able to grow, innovate and compete as it aims to achieve a significant increase in the contribution of the industrial sector to the gross domestic product and provide hundreds of thousands of new job opportunities for youth and achieve a boom in industrial exports, which contributes to achieving economic stability and reducing unemployment rates.
The Minister confirmed on more than one occasion that the year two thousand and twenty five will be the year of the start of the Egyptian industry, where the fruits of plans and projects that are currently being implemented will be reapped and with the continued implementation of this ambitious strategy, the Egyptian industry is moving towards a new stage of growth and prosperity that makes it able to compete globally and contribute effectively to achieving comprehensive development in Egypt.
