She is a mother of Basmala, the fiftieth lady who broke the barriers and became the first woman working in the Diphri profession in the governorate.
The beginning of scratch
The mother of Basmala did not ever knew that she would turn into the Delivery driver, but she did not find another option when life intensified, as her husband suffered from diabetes, who was not satisfied with attacking his body, but rather greatly affected one of his kidneys, which made him bed but unable to work, and they have a single married daughter.
Umm Basmalah says in a live broadcast with her, “Cairo 24”, that she tried to search for any work that suits her, but the opportunities were scarce, especially at her age, until the idea came to her when she was watching the youth of delivery in front of the restaurants, and she said to herself: “Why did you not scrub?”
It is not a defect .. The defect is that we surrender
She faced a rejection at the beginning, as the profession is controlled by young people, and not everyone accepted the idea of seeing a woman driving a motorcycle to deliver requests, but she did not give up, and she went to one of the famous restaurants in Beni Suef, and presented the idea to its owner.
The owner of the restaurant hesitated at the beginning, but he was dazzled by her courage and persistence, so he decided to give her the opportunity, and from here her journey began, she learned to lead the bike, preserved the city’s roads, and the requests were transferred quickly and efficiently, until the customers began to request them by name.
It was not easy, as society did not have mercy on her, and many mocked her, but she did not mind. Every delivery trip meant a meal for her husband and a treatment for his health.
She said, she wipes her race after a long journey in the city’s streets: “In the first, I was afraid of people’s looks, but when I saw the look of contentment in the eye of Josie, I knew that I was walking on the right path … There is no need for her name to be a manner for men, but the length of what a person earns permissible and helps his family remain on the right path.”
Method
Despite all the challenges, a mother of Basmala did not think about the retreat. She used to look at surprise, ignored frustrated comments, and her only focus became to continue to work and secure a decent life for her family.
Today, the mother of Basmala is no longer just a woman working in an unfamiliar profession, but rather a symbol of patience and challenge, perhaps she never dreamed of becoming known among the people of Beni Suef, but she is now an example that is beaten in the power of will, and witness that the strong woman does not wait for help, but makes her way herself, even if he is on a bike in a crowded street.
