Israel cut off electricity supplies for Gaza, officials said in statements yesterday, which affects the work of a drinking water desalination plant in part of the Strip, which was described by Hamas as coming within the framework of the starvation policy pursued by Israel.
This announcement came today, Sunday, a week after Israel cut all the supply of commodities for the sector, which includes more than two million people.
The Israeli occupation is seeking to pressure Hamas to agree to extend the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, which ended last weekend.
An Israeli -starring policy against the Palestinians
Hamas wants to start negotiations on the second stage of the ceasefire agreement, and to move forward with the agreement signed by Israel in January, but it wants to back down from its obligations now.
Gaza was widespread in the war, and generators and solar panels are relied upon to provide part of the electricity supply.
On Sunday, Israeli Energy Minister Elie Cohen said that Israel had immediately suspended electricity supplies to the Gaza Strip, noting that it had signed an order in this regard and published a picture of him on the X platform during the signing.
Cohen emphasized that the goal is to put pressure on Hamas.
The Gaza Strip and the infrastructure have been largely destroyed during the Israeli brutal war on the Strip, and most facilities, including hospitals, are now used by electric generators.
