Plans visits of prominent US officials to Greenland sparked angry reactions from local politicians, after the threats of former US President Donald Trump to include the island. A high delegation arrived today, Monday, accompanied by the wife of US Vice President Greenland to present a “unmistakable offer” accompanied by air force aircraft.
An official rejection of American visits
The outgoing Prime Minister of Greenland described MiTOGIDE’s visits as “hostile”, stressing that US officials have not received official invitations to hold meetings with the local government. For his part, the possible next Prime Minister, Yans-Frederick Nielsen, criticized these moves, considering that they lack respect towards the inhabitants of the island.
Greenland’s strategic importance
