A parliamentary committee discusses a briefing request on the development of the shipbuilding industry in Egypt

The Industry Committee in the House of Representatives will hold a meeting today, Sunday, to discuss the issue of the briefing request submitted by Representative Mahmoud Essam Musa, regarding the challenges facing the localization and development of the shipbuilding and reform industry in Egypt and the importance of giving the opportunity to the private sector to participate effectively in this sector.

The committee reviews a request for a briefing on the authority of the Industrial Development Authority employees in the Minya branch with the lack of transparency and intransigence with investors in completing the procedures.

In the same context, the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee is scheduled to discuss, during its meetings this week, a draft law amending the Electricity Law issued by Law No. 87 of 2015.

The amendments to the Electricity Law include the application of the penalty for the theft of electrical current to maintain the state’s right to obtain its financial dues, which amount to a fine of one million pounds in addition to the fine of the current and imprisonment.

The amendments include a thick penalty for the theft of electrical current to reach one million pounds in addition to the fine of the current, and the imprisonment in the event of frequent electrical stolen, lack of adherence to the terms of the contract in relation to the legal, and not installing a code counter for violators.
