With investments of 80 million euros .. The Prime Minister opens the Air Likid Factory for Medical Gases Production

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, opened the Air Likid Factory for the production of medical and industrial gases, as part of his visit to the integrated Sokhna area, which is affiliated with the economic zone of the Suez Canal.

After the unveiling of the curtain marking the start of the factory, the Prime Minister listened to an explanation from the engineer Brian Shetty, the company’s board chairman, who explained that the project is located on an area of ​​25 thousand square meters, at an investment cost of 80 million euros, and specializes in oxygen production, nitrogen, and argon (liquefied gas), explaining that the experimental operation of the factory started in May 2024, then in August 2024 began operation The actual factory with a production capacity of 770 tons per day for oxygen, 370 tons for nitrogen, and 30 tons for argon.

After that, the president of the company explained the various stages of the production of medical and industrial gases, indicating that the natural air pressure process is first taking place, where the natural air is captured, and a filter is made of impurities and dust; So that gases can be obtained with a high purity.

Meanwhile, the company’s board chairman explained that the next stage is the cooling stage, where the air that was pressed and filtered is cooled, after which the process of separating the gases: oxygen, nitrogen, and argon; Where these gases are used for medical and industrial purposes, and the factory already supplies a number of factories adjacent to it with gases that fall within the productive process.

The president of the company added that the factory is producing another component of cells called WIFR, which is included in the installation of solar cells, during the second stage of operation, with a production capacity of 1 GB annually, which is unique to the production of the company in Egypt.

He stressed that the manufacture of these chips would contribute to reducing their import from abroad, and their production in Egypt, as it also comes within the framework of localizing this vital industry, in line with the Egyptian state’s trend towards localizing the various important and vital industries, as well as in light of supporting the production of new and renewable energy in Egypt.

In this context, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, directed to study this matter with the company, study ways to support it and overcome the obstacles that enable them to expand the production of these cells, in light of Egypt towards increasing dependence on renewable energy in the energy mix.
