Dr. Shawky Allam, the former Mufti of Diyar, stressed that the question about how to pay zakat al -Fitr is frequently repeated among the people, pointing to the hadith of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, on the authority of our master Abdullah bin Omar, where the Messenger of God imposed zakat al -Fitr with a saa from dates, barley or righteousness, With his saying, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “They enriched them from the question on this day.” He feels that the matter has a cause, meaning that zakat al -Fitr is paid in order to enrich the poor.

The former Egyptian Mufti, during television statements, explained that the jurists differ in how to pay zakat based on time, place and need, and if the enrichment of the poor in certain areas can be done with the food stipulated in the noble hadith, then this is the first in those areas, either In the major cities, where it is difficult to enrich the poor with food at times, so it is not embarrassed by law to give its value in cash.
The former Egyptian Grand Mufti stressed that there is no need for the great dispute over this issue, explaining that what matters is to enrich the poor in a way that suits their needs in the place where they live, indicating that this opinion is consistent with what the great jurist Ibn Taymiyyah, may God have mercy on him, said It is permissible to pay zakat al -Fitr in the event that the poor cannot be enriched with food.
